Ever feel like you’re stuck in survival mode, waiting for your “real life” to begin?
One thing I’ve had to come to terms with is that life isn’t linear. We’re taught to go from one “big” thing to another—job, milestone, achievement—thinking that’s where happiness lives. Because that’s what it means to have main character energy, right?
But here’s what I’ve learned: the real joy lives in the small moments, the “side quests”.
Side quests are where I get to explore my creativity, follow my curiosity, and fully embrace my playful side. When I slow down and choose everyday magic and intentional living, that’s when I feel most like the main character of my story. Not when I’m chasing “success”, but when I’m nurturing my mind, body, and soul.
Because hustle culture? It’s not it. That’s the fast track to burnout. Choosing yourself on purpose, in small ways, is where the real magic begins.
What is side Quest IRL?
Side Quest IRL started as a cute play on words, but it quickly became a life philosophy that deeply resonated with me. As someone who’s been gaming for years, I’ve always been the “side quest queen.” I live for the optional adventures that bring richness and depth to the main storyline. They’re often where the heart of the game lives.
So I thought: what if real life could feel the same?
What if we saw everyday rituals, self-expression, spiritual practices, and moments of joy not as distractions, but as the very things that give our lives meaning?
That’s what Side Quest IRL is all about, intentional detours that bring you back to yourself.
Healing Doesn’t Have to be a Boss Fight.

I know what you might be thinking:
“Healing? Inner work? That sounds hard. I’m not ready for all that.”
But here’s the truth: healing doesn’t always have to feel heavy. It’s not about “fixing” yourself. It’s about rediscovering yourself, through short adventures (AKA daily practices) that add soul, softness, and sparkle to your life.
These micro-moments of care and curiosity are what add depth to your story.
Signs that this aligns with you:
- Burnt out or creative block
- Feeling numb or disconnected
- Stuck in autopilot or people pleasing
- Craving magic, softness or purpose
- Feeling that there is more to life than the mundane

What Side quests can look like
Side quests don’t require huge life changes. Just tiny shifts in awareness and intention.
They’re little acts of rebellion against societal expectations.
They’re the woo-woo, weird, wonder-filled things that bring you back to yourself.
- Dress for your mood like it’s your armor. Set an intention as you get ready.
- Start your morning with something meaningful. A card pull, mindful coffee, meditation.
- Journal with a reflection prompt. Let it flow—with curiosity, not judgment.
- Create a sacred space in your home. Even a candle and crystal count.
- Do something your inner child would love. Color, dance, stargaze, make a mess.
- Wear the outfit. Because your joy matters. You don’t need permission to shine.

How Side Quest IRL Supports Your Journey
I want Side Quest IRL to be a corner of the internet where healing is magical, self-expression is sacred, and every day is an adventure.
Here, you’ll find tools, rituals, and inspirations to help you:
Reconnect with your inner world
Express your truest self through style and creativity
Cultivate daily magic and healing
Embrace your main character energy (your way)
Whether you’re getting dressed in intention, journaling through a tough day, or claiming joy for yourself again, I’m here to support your journey.
Tools that have helped me get started.
These things aren’t necessary, because at the end of the day, it all stems from the intention that you put behind it. But I know for me at least, having things that feel special and sacred, make me want to do the work. They make me feel good about what I am doing, and that is the first step to getting you moving.
Guided Journals – When you are just getting started journaling, it can be easier to use a guided journal.
Oracle/Tarot Cards – I love using Oracle and Tarot cards as part of my spiritual practice, it is a huge passion of mine. This helps me feel in touch with the universe and my spiritual team. I own too many to list, but here are some good beginner options!
You’re the Main Character.
This Is Your Side Quest.
If you’re still reading, I know one thing for sure: you’re ready to live life on purpose.
So, here’s your first quest:
Do one small thing today simply because it feels good.
Say yes to softness.
Say yes to magic.
Say yes to you.
Because happiness is a choice, and if you lean into the things that feel the most aligned with you, it will make that choice a whole lot easier.
